NatHERS Accreditation

Become a professional NatHERS Accredited House Energy Rating Assessor with HERA…

To practice as a NatHERS Accredited Assessor, you must maintain your accreditation. HERA offers the support you need to obtain and maintain accreditation as a House Energy Rating Assessor.

As a NatHERS Accredited Assessor, you will join other HERA energy rating assessors across Australia who are recognised as professionals in their field.

Becoming Accredited…

To become an accredited House Energy Rating Assessor with HERA  you must:

  • apply to become a member of HERA
  • have successfully completed the Certificate IV in NatHERS Assessment (CPP41212) or Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CPP41119)
  •  notify HERA of any current or previous accreditation with another AAO
  • nominate to HERA the software tools you will use
  • agree that you will comply with HERAs Assessor Code of Ethical Practice
  • confirm that, when using NatHERS Software you will demonstrate compliance with a Jurisdiction’s application of the NCC, you will create and use Universal Certificates if the software has functionality to do so
  • agree that you will conduct your Assessments in a way which ensures the health and safety of yourself, and others, so far as reasonably practicable and which complies with all relevant workplace health and safety laws in the Jurisdictions in which you operate.

Apply for Accreditation…

When applying to become an accredited House Energy Rating Assessor you will be required to answer the following questions:

  1. Have you completed the Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability through an RTO? Copies of the Certificate and Record of Results must be submitted with your  application.
  2. Do you have Professional Indemnity Insurance? Copies of the Certificate of Currency must be submitted
  3. Do you agree to abide by the HERA code of Ethical Conduct? A copy of the signed HERA Code of Ethical Conduct must be submitted with your application.
  4. Have you ever had your accreditation suspended or terminated?
  5. Have you made application to any other organisation and been rejected?
  6. Have you made application to become a member of HERA?
  7. Are you applying for accreditation in more than one software tool?

Annual Renewal…

To maintain accreditation with HERA you must:

  • renew accreditation annually
  • pay required fees to maintain accreditation
  • your HERA Accreditation can be paid in monthly instalments
  • maintain your HERA Membership
  • complete at least 12 CPD points in each year of accreditation.
  • HERA members may choose to complete the HERA suite of CPD courses or provide suitable evidence of alternative CPD courses achieved.
  • Maintain you HERA Professional Indemnity Insurance or provide HERA with a current PI Insurance Certificate of Currency
  • undertake an Energy Rating assessment audit when requested
  • provide a copy of all Assessments conducted for regulatory purposes to HERA
  • consent to the ongoing compliance of the HERA  Code of Ethical Practice
